The Florida State Personnel Development Grant, which funds Check & Connect implementation statewide in Florida, (?) ends in September 2017. This presentation will provide information about the structures used to build the capacity for implementation of Check and Connect that have been successful as well as the lessons learned. The presentation will highlight plans for further scale-up, mechanisms to better align with Florida's SSIP and MTSS, and a strengthened focused on capacity building and sustainability at the district level.

Peg Sullivan, M.Ed. is the Director of Working with the Experts (WWE) for Occupational and Physical Therapists and the of Florida’s State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG). Her major duties and responsibilities include implementation oversight, fiscal management and program evaluation. The WWE program provides high quality professional development for school based therapists. The SPDG is a five-year initiative to support increased graduation rates for students with disabilities using Check and Connect and the Strategic Instruction Model™.
Lael Engstrom, MSW, is the Check & Connect Project Director for Florida's SPDG. She provides oversight for C&C Implementation through-out the State of Florida, including supervision of technical assistance, site implementation, developing new sites, and guidance for district sustainability. Lael is also a local certified C&C trainer, and develops content for strengthening C&C coordinators, site administrators, facilitators, and mentors. Lael was first trained in 2005, by the University of Minnesota's Institute on Community Integration, providing C&C for a juvenile justice grant in Oklahoma.
